Poet's Code of Ethics
Poet's Code of Ethics
The Poet's Code of Ethics comes from the original Twilight Club, founded by British Philosopher, Herbert Spencer, and included members Walt Whitman, Edwin Markham, Mark Twain, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Oliver Wendell Holmes, and John Burroughs during its first era.
The Twilight Club earned its name as they would convene at a members home at twilight to discuss their mutual concern for the future of humanity at a time when the dawning of the industrial revolution was upon mankind, and as Spencer was rightly concerned, the need for character development in mankind was never greater. Many of today's long-lasting character building organizations stemmed from the Twilight Club, such as Rotary, Lions, the Boy Scouts (England and America), and others.
